What is a Cranial Prosthesis?
A cranial prosthesis is a custom human hair unit designed to fit your head.  This unit is placed and styled by a trained practitioner and offers the most natural and stylish option for temporary hair replacement.  Your hair unit should be maintained by your practitioner.

Does insurance pay for a medical wig?
Many health insurances cover part or all of the cost of the wig if a doctor writes a prescription.  A medical wig or "cranial prosthesis" may be reimbursed in part or full by your managed care insurance.  We do offer pre-authorizations during your initial consultation.

How long does a medical wig or cranial prosthesis last?
Most cranial prosthesis have up to a 2 year warranty. If the wear and care instructions are followed appropriately, the prosthesis may last longer. Medicare and most major insurance plans will authorize replacement.

What types of hair loss is covered by insurance?

Hair Loss from Alopecia, Hair Loss from Chemotherapy, Hair Loss from Medical Issues, Hair Loss from Radiation, Hair Loss from Thyroid Disease and more.

How difficult is it to get my insurance to reimburse me for my medical wig?
If your plan allows, you may be reimbursed for your medical wig.  Simply get a prescription from your heath provider, purchase your medically necessary hair unit and submit your receipt for reimbursement.
